How Old Are Your Tires? The DOT Decoder
Every tire carries a DOT code on the sidewall. The last four digits tell you when it was made: the first two are the week of the year, the last two are the year. Type them in and we will translate.
Why it matters: rubber ages even when tread is left. Past about 6 years, tires harden and crack; at 10 years, most manufacturers say replace them regardless of tread. If your decoded age surprises you, bring the vehicle by and we will inspect the set in person — free rotation comes with any tire purchase from the shop, and our guide to reading a sidewall covers the rest of the markings.
Tire Size Comparison Calculator
Thinking about a different size? Enter the size on the vehicle now and the size you are considering. We will show the diameter change, the revolutions-per-mile change, and what it does to your speedometer.
Our guide to changing wheel and tire size walks through what a size change does to fitment, gearing feel, and the speedometer. And a reminder from our Tires page: most of what you can find online, we can usually get for a better price, installed — call (270) 861-2003 with the size before you order.
