Some Flats Can Be Fixed. Some Should Not Be.

Tire repair in Glasgow, KY — whether a flat can be fixed depends on where the damage is and how big it is. A nail or screw in the tread is usually repairable. Damage in the sidewall is not — the sidewall flexes constantly, and a repair there cannot be trusted. Anyone who offers to plug a sidewall is selling you a problem, not a repair.

A proper repair starts with the tire off the rim. That is the only way to see the inside of the tire — a puncture that looks small from outside can have torn the inner liner, and driving on a tire while it was low can damage it in ways you cannot see from the road. We inspect it inside and out and tell you straight whether it is a repair or a replacement conversation.

Slow leaks are a different diagnosis. A tire that loses a few pounds a week may have a puncture too small to spot, a leaking valve, or a bead that is not sealing against the rim — each has a different fix, and topping the tire off every week is not any of them. The TPMS light is often what gives a slow leak away.

If a tire cannot be fixed safely, you are already in the right shop: we sell most major tire brands — more than can be listed — and can usually get what you found online for a better price, installed. The replacement mounts, balances, and goes on in the same visit.

What Kind of Flat Is It

Three Flats, Three Different Answers

A tire that goes flat overnight in the driveway is a different job from one that loses air slowly over weeks, and both are different from a blowout on the highway — a tire that has been driven on while flat, or has struck something hard, gets a harder look inside before anyone talks about repairing it.

However it happened, do not keep driving on a low tire to get it here. Every mile on a soft tire is doing damage that can turn a repair into a replacement.

➔Nail or screw in the tread
the most common flat — and usually the repairable kind
➔Losing air a little at a time
a slow leak has a cause: puncture, valve, or bead — find it instead of topping off
➔Sidewall cut, bubble, or crack
not repairable — that is a replacement conversation, and we will show you why

Questions
Can every flat tire be repaired?

No — and be wary of anyone who says yes. Punctures in the tread are usually repairable; sidewall damage is not. The tire comes off the rim so the inside can be inspected before anyone decides.

I keep having to add air every week. What is that?

A slow leak — a small puncture, a leaking valve stem, or a bead that is not sealing. It has a cause and a fix; bring it in and we will find which one it is.

Should I drive on a tire that is low but not flat?

Get air in it first, or put the spare on. Driving on a low tire damages the sidewall from the inside and can turn a repairable tire into a replacement.
